I’m back this month to share with you some easy tips for a successful Back to School Night or Meet the Teacher!
I love making my parents feel welcome and special. After all, this night is meant to make a great impression and sets the tone for the rest of the school year! I’ll share a few organization tips you can implement at your BTSN or Meet the Teacher…impressed parents guaranteed!!
Welcome Table:
A welcome table with fresh flowers and a simple sign in sheet is the perfect way to welcome families into your classroom! I printed out a welcome note letting parents know they need to sign in, grab a brochure, and find their child’s seat. Easy peasy! You can grab the welcome sign and sign in sheet by clicking HERE or the picture below.
Parent Contact Information:
Are you looking for a quick and easy way to collect all your parents’ contact info and emails? I’ve got the PERFECT paperless way! I have this sign right by the door and sign in sheet! It lets parents scan a QR Code or use a link to access my Google Form! That form is a digital parent information survey that collects all the same info I would have on a paper contact form…except now it’ll collect it, sort it, and organize it on an excel sheet! AMAZING! You can grab my free sign that’s editable. It’ll let you add your link instead of mine. :) Grab it HERE!
Back to School Brochures:
Are you limited on copy paper? Stressing out about BTSN packets? I’ve got you covered with these super easy to use editable BTS brochures! I’ve learned parent information should be short and sweet. Ain’t nobody got time to read pages and pages of classroom rules and curriculum! Brochures can be used to inform your parents of classroom procedures, your educational overview for the entire year, list important information, and even supply/wish lists. My parents LOVED the simplicity of a ONE page brochure!
Parent Donations or Wish List:
This year I used a freebie from my sweet friend Ashley over at Teach Create Motivate! Her adorable apple donation sign was the perfect touch! It never hurts to ask parents for help!! Some parents were eager to give our classroom what we needed and took one apple from the board to donate later on. The coolest part was that I could customize each apple to what I needed as a classroom donation. You can grab it for free HERE!
Sweet Treats for Parents:
I always have a little thank you gift for my families that show up to BTSN. It’s not much, but it sure does make them feel special! I get my apple cookies from a local bakery shop every year. They do such an amazing job! I’ve seen ideas on Pinterest for water bottle labels, mints, and more. Simple, yet meaningful!
Note to Students:
I always have my families leave a special note for their kids that night. That way, students get to school the next day and find the CUTEST messages from their parents or families! They just LOVE it! Parents love leaving them notes too! For families that can’t make it to BTSN, I leave the kids a sweet note instead. That way ALL my students have a special note waiting for them on their desks the next day. :) You can grab the free note template HERE or by clicking the image below!
Back to School Night Presentation:
We only have 30 minutes to present to our families that night. It FLIES by so quickly! If I don’t have a powerpoint presentation to go through, I’d be a HOT MESS! So every year I just update my template with new dates, info, etc. All the information I talk about is also in their BTSN brochures. You can grab the editable template HERE from my TpT shop.
Those are my easy Back to School Night tips for you! They make my night SO much easier and efficient. Plus, families leave my classroom feeling confident that I will do my best to make it a GREAT year for their kids!
